Jacobs are delighted to announce in conjunction withThe Bishopsland Educational Trust, a jewellery design postgraduate course provider based in South Oxfordshire, a pioneering public competition and exhibition for its students at Jacobs the Jewellers' shop in the heart of Reading town centre.

 Eight young Bishopsland based jewellery designers will showcase one piece of silver and one piece of jewellery, competing for best design in each category. In a pioneering exhibition, the public will be able to view and sample the designs between June 2nd and June 20th , voting for their favourite design in each category at Jacobs the Jewellers Reading shop. Any member of the public who votes will be entered into a prize draw to win a Jacobs the Jewellers gift certificate to the value of £250. The winning designers we be presented with a budget of £500 to spend at HS Walsh on jewellery tools and supplies to help them in their careers. 

 The competition has been made possible for the Bishopsland trust through the initiative, co-operation and support of Jacobs the Jewellers, Reading’s leading independent jeweller and the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths, a City of London livery company founded in the 13th century to promote the craft of Gold and Silversmiths.

 The exhibition, the first of this type in the area, is a unique opportunity to view stunning jewellery and silver designs of talented young designers of the future. All parties have agreed to support this competition for the next three years demonstrating a commitment to the craft and artists of Bishopsland as well as to Reading town centre as a creative centre in the South East.

  • 1st June 1500 to 1700: Official launch of event at Jacobs with artist presentations & VIPs
  • 2nd June: exhibition & voting start
  • 20th June: exhibition & voting closes
  • 22nd June 1600: announcement of winners at Jacobs with artists and VIPs
